Awww my little husky face is 5 today. I’d sit and reminisce about what a chunky puppy she was, but I can only imagine. Yuki came to me when she was about 8 months old, on my 22nd birthday to be exact. I got to see her grow a bit, but mostly I got to help her learn to trust a human. The first year of Yuki-dom was a rough one. She would scream bloody murder when left in a crate, destroy the house when she wasn’t in the crate, and eventually just plain destroyed the crate.
She’s got a severe case of separation anxiety from her first couple owners leaving her alone in a crate all day. She has gotten much much better over the past 4 years, but she’s still a trouble maker when left alone. For example, I made sure all edible things there put away and out of dog’s reach before I left for work this morning. However, I came home and Yuki decided she was going to take a brand new package of napkins off the counter just because she could. She opened the package and brought it to the futon in the other room and left them there. I don’t know why, but she did.
Anyway, all day yesterday I thought it was the 13th, so yesterday I brought her to PetSmart and got her a new squeaky tennis ball, and a couple toys. I gave her a carrot too, her favorite treat. The database went down, so I couldn’t post anything until today, but better so because now its really her birthday! She’ll get another carrot today!
Here’s a video of what came next:
